I hear complaints and questions like these from Christians frequently:
They say, "Churches today only care about money." Whether this is true or not I'm old enough to see and know what is really going on in many pacific churches. I think there is too much abuse and misuse of church funds. So, one would argue, Why should I give?". "How do I know the money will go to a good cause?"

Let me tell you a personal story: I have been to several and they always ask about income. I tell them I will give what I can and their response is, 'You have to give at least ten percent of your income.' I understand that the church needs funds to operate, and I started to give my 10% share to the church. Not long, the Minister started to ask the congregation some money to give as a gift to another Minister that came from the islands to visit. The church collected some money and gave it to the visiting Minister. The following Sunday, the Minister stood up again and said we need some money to pay for this and that etc etc etc. By this time I was so piss off and left. Now, to tell someone that they need to give ten percent is not right. Why? Because they should not "tell" someone to give or tithe. All they need to do is preach the gospel and in this case, preach the biblical principles of giving and then it will be up to the individual to respond to the message.

So, in all fairness to the pacific churches, I think they should re-examine their position in this society and act accordingly. Do not hide behind the name of the church or God or anyone else...cos' it sux guys....really is.....

The story of the widow inspire me the most, she gave so little and yet she gave the most. Her annointed love of God and humanity compels her to carry the cross and later on replaced by the man of Calvary.

The saddest thing is this: "Where the hell is the money going?"

It is not going to further the Kingdom of God. If church leaders think that is the case, groups like the Salvation Army would be preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Unfortunately these groups no longer preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is probably why they are so successful in raising money.

Although in most countries, The Salvation Army holds church services every Sunday, and speaks to those who come for food, etc. about Christ. Perhaps not the average SA church, tho. Also, there is a lot of giving that does not go through the churches, but directly to other ministries and organizations. As far as what the churches do with all the money - ever-increasing salaries, and building projects, mostly, in other words, building their own kingdom instead of God's kingdom, which is sad.
